Personal profile
ShortBio
Aiala Urbegain has a degree in Chemistry by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) (2016). She developed her end of degree project on “Adsorbent Particle Design for Application in Gas Adsorption Processes”, in the University of NOVA (Lisbon) (2016).
Aiala started her collaboration with Tecnalia in 2016, when she entry in the Advanced Surfaces group. During her first year in Tecnalia her work was focused on developing wet surface treatments (chemical electrodeposition of metals chemical conversion processes) supported on traditional technologies based on aqueous electrolytes as well as new technologies based in ionic liquids. Since 2017 she is working in the group of Materials for Extreme Conditions, where her activity is mainly focused on designing, testing and reporting assays related to materials ageing, material characterization, corrosion processes etc. She also works on projects at the HarshLab offshore laboratory (https://harshlab.eu/en/ ). Aiala has experience in carrying out tests accredited by ENAC in the corresponding files for "Coatings, Sealants and Adhesives" and "Metallic Materials" according to Accreditation No. 4/LE063, and in accredited tests by NADCAP in the corresponding files for laboratory materials testing - Corrosion according to Accreditation AC7101/6 Rev.C. Since 2019 she is an inspector of surface treatments (Frosio) according to NS476. And during the year 2022-2023, she carried out a stay in the Technology Lab of Repsol where she actively participated in technical tasks of material selection, simulating and analyzing the behavior of metallic materials.
