Alejandra Ruiz is project director in the quantum technologies area (QTECH) at TECNALIA, being responsible for the quantum software engineering area and collaborating with the quantum security area. Her main interests are:

  • Validation and early verification of hybrid systems (classical-quantum)
  • Testing of quantum algorithms
  • Quantum Key Distribution
  • Quantum communications rings

In 2007 she joined the ESI (European Software Institute) as part of the embedded systems team. Later the institute merged with others creating TECNALIA in 2010. At TECNALIA she has worked in the embedded systems, cybersecurity and safety and Software & Systems Lifecycle Innovation teams. She has participated in assurance projects in critical systems, with special focus on the automotive, aerospace, railway and medical device domains, with extensive knowledge of the main functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 62443, IEC 62304, DO178, ISO 26262. She has experience in risk analysis and management for novel technologies. She currently participates in the OpenSuperQ+100 and OASEES projects. With extensive experience in European projects where she has participated in FP7, ECSEL, Iberoeka, H2020 and Horizon Europe projects. She has coordinated projects such as AMASS, ECSEL project, Architecture-driven, Multi-concern and Seamless Assurance and Certification of Cyber-Physical Systems (AMASS) (20 Million EUR) or QUANTEK, ELKARTEK project on Quantum Technologies. Alejandra is a telecommunications engineer from the University of Deusto, she has a master's degree in advanced artificial intelligence from UNED and a European Ph. D. from the University of Deusto in computer science and telecommunications for her theses “An harmonized compositional safety assurance for safety critical systems”.
