ShortBio

Dr. Ana Ayerdi Izquierdo (female). She is a biochemist whose current research focuses on the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the cell response to biomaterials. She received her PhD in 2007 after conducting her research between the Valencias’s Biomedicine Institute at the Spanish Scientific Research Council (IBV-CSIC), the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT, and the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI). The thesis entitled “Genetic analysis of LGI1 paralogs and functional characterization of LGI1 protein” was graduated with honors. She joined Tecnalia’s Biomaterials group on 2008, where she studies, among other projects, the use of hollow porous fibers in cellular bioreactors for cell therapy purposes. She is skilled at cellular and molecular techniques and  has been involved in more than 30 R+D projects, being 9 from the European commission (FP6, FP7 and H2020 programme, among others), such asH2020.DT-NMPB-03-2019(NEXTGENm); H2020-NMBP-HUBS-2018 (SAFEnmt), H2020-NMP-PILOTS-2015 (FAST. Functionally Graded Additive Manufacturing Scaffolds by Hybrid Manufacturing), H2020-NMP-PILOTS-2014 (R2R Biofluidics. Large scale micro-and nanofabrication technologies for bioanalytical devices based on R2R imprinting), FP7 “Nephh (Nanomaterials related environmental polution and health hazards throughout their life cycle)”, FP7 “Skin-Treat (Novel approaches for the development of customized skin treatments and services), and FP6 “AcuteTox (An in Vitro test Strategy for predicting Human acute toxicity). Her broad research activity can be also evaluated by her papers and congress contributions.
