Andres Sierra-Gonzalez received his Bachelor's in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and his first M. Eng. degree in 2008 and 2016 from Andes University, Bogotá, Colombia. Then, he received a second M. Eng. degree with honors and a Ph.D. "Cum Laude" degree from the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, Spain, in 2017 and 2023.

From 2009 to 2013, he was an Electronics Engineer in the mining and energy industry, Bogotá, Colombia. Next, he was a Research Assistant at Andes University from 2014 to 2016. Then, he was a researcher in the Energy Management division of IK4-IKERLAN, San Sebastian, Spain, in 2017. He is a Control Systems Researcher applied to electromobility at Tecnalia Research and Innovation, Derio, Spain. He was co-recipient of the Best Paper Award for the IEEE Vehicular Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC) in 2017. His Ph.D. thesis has been awarded second place in the IEEE Industry Application Society's 2023 thesis contest.
