Personal profile

ShortBio

PhD in Automatic and Control Engineering (2016), Bachelor of Physics at the University of the Basque Country (1999), bachelor of Electronics Engineer at the University of the Basque Country (2000). She engaged Fundación Robotiker (now Tecnalia Research & Innovation) in 2000, where she joined the Image Processing Group as developer.

Now, as a senior researcher and project manager, she has 24 years of experience in the development and management of machine vision projects, having participated in more than 10 European projects, and dozens of national research projects, as well as projects under contract for the industry. These projects have been mainly focused on quality control and detection of defects in various sectors and manufacturing processes through artificial vision systems, having worked both in the visible spectrum and with hyperspectral techniques. She has also worked with medical images acquired with different technologies, such as CT, MRI, mammography or tomosynthesis. Her thesis was about new segmentation algorithms using variational techniques with multichannel input and its application on biomedical images.

Her current research focuses on the application of Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques to processes, as well as the design and development of advanced vision systems in different industrial applications. Her work has provided her with two prizes for innovation in EARTO, in 2011 (3rd place) and in 2014 (1st place). She has more than 25 publications, 11 patents, and has participated in many national and international conferences.
