Personal profile

ShortBio

Industrial organization engineer and PhD in control, automation, and robotics from the University of the Basque Country. He has been working full-time since 2009 at the LEIA technology center and later at Tecnalia. His research focuses on the mathematical modeling of complex nonlinear systems (main investigated use cases: wind turbines, industrial melting furnaces, operations planning, and collaborative robotics) for their control using robust design techniques and optimization through metaheuristic techniques. All investigated use cases are posed as multi-objective problems (some of the metrics used: i) energy and raw material savings; ii) cost associated with Preventive-Condition-Reactive maintenance strategy; iii) reduction of trajectories and equipment use). The technologies employed have been diverse depending on the use case: i) modeling and simulation software (Matlab-Simulink, Modelica); ii) general-purpose programming languages (C++, C#, Visual Basic, and Python); iii) relational database storage (Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL) and big data (MongoDB, HDF5 files); iv) 3D geometry design software (Autocad, Catia, Delmia). He has participated in several international conferences as a speaker and has been an author of some impact journals (JCR).
