Graduated in Physics and Electronic Engineering. He is a senior researcher in TECNALIA since 2002, and his main research lines are related to Data Models in the AECO industry, more specifically around Open BIM (Building Information Modelling) and its interoperability with GIS systems, Digital Twins and web-based decision support tools for the design, renovation and construction processes. He is currently researching on automating the generation and management of IFC files from different open sources (e.g. GIS, cadastral data, open data) and developing algorithms and software tools to automate the interoperability between building BIM and GIS and with cloud-based energy simulation engines (especially Energy Plus). He is the main author or co-author of various scientific papers on these topics. He has participated in many EU level, national and local projects, such as HOLISTEEC, BERTIM, RenoZEB, BIM4REN, ENSNARE, BIM2TWIN, EPC-RECAST or AEGIR.
