Personal profile

ShortBio

He graduated in Automation and Industrial Electronics from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto (2007). He obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies in Electronic Technology for Photovoltaic Systems from the University of the Basque Country (2009), where he is currently pursuing a PhD at the Faculty of Engineering in the field of hybrid photovoltaic solar systems. Since 2006, he has been working at TECNALIA Research & Innovation, where his main research interests have focused on solar energy systems, especially those related to new photovoltaic (PV) applications. Throughout his professional career he has carried out research activities in the photovoltaic value chain, focusing on topics linked to modules for singular applications (building integrated and photovoltaic-thermal), balance of system components, operation and maintenance strategies for distributed plants, advanced control systems, modelling and simulation of heterogeneous generators, development of new concepts and validation in a real environment. He has carried out multiple technical due diligences and evaluations of new business opportunities for companies and startups. He currently leads the technological lines of PV applications in agrovoltaics, floating and hybrid systems, and is responsible for the solar field testing infrastructure. He has extensive experience as a coordinator of collaborative projects, both public and private, at national and international level, as well as extensive experience in European FP7 and H2020 projects. He has combined research work with teaching, being an assistant professor in the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation at the University of the Basque Country. He has led and collaborated in different tasks of the International Energy Agency within the PVPS (15) and SHC (53, 56, 60 and 73) programs. He is a member of the Spanish certification committee AEN/CTN 82 and a member of the IEC/EN working group on floating PV systems. He is a reviewer of scientific journals, co-author of more than 30 articles and contributions to international conferences and director of 12 final degree projects. He has contributed to 2 patents and 2 software registrations in the field of PV.
