ShortBio
Eduardo Ibáñez Valle is a Senior Technologist at the Tecnalia Research & Innovation Foundation, with extensive experience in computer graphics and visualization. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Electronic and Automatic Engineering from the University of the Basque Country in 2019 and his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering from the same university in 2000. He began his professional career at the EUVE Technological Center in 2000, where he conducted research in the field of computer graphics (3D engines, Serious Games, Virtual Reality, and tools for interactive content production). He has worked as a Technologist for over 20 years in computer graphics related to virtual reality and its peripherals.
He is familiar with state-of-the-art devices for Visualization (Stereoscopy, Immersion), MoCap, Haptics, Positioning, etc. He was a professor in the first edition of the Master in Virtual Reality at the University of Deusto, where he taught the hardware graphics section. He has participated in various regional, national, and European projects on Virtual Reality, 3D, Visualization of Civil Works and Architecture, indoor location, Historical Heritage, serious games, etc. For several years, he has worked on creating computer tools to facilitate the creation of interactive graphics (graphics engines) and high-level programming (graphics, scripts).
In 2011, he took a new step in his career by joining the Tecnalia Research & Innovation Foundation as a senior researcher and technologist. During these years, he specialized in creating computer tools to facilitate the creation of interactive graphics, such as graphics engines, as well as high-level programming, including graphs and scripts. This experience led him in 2014 to be part of the founding team of the startup WiMi5, as a developer of multiplayer game tools in HTML5, contributing significantly to the implementation of a web platform for creating web games. After this experience, he returned in 2015 to Tecnalia Research & Innovation, where he focused on data visualization, especially in the field of Big Data. During the following years, he specialized in web and WebGL visualization, and from 2019, he focused on development in AR and VR in web environments, focusing on projects that use image recognition and visualization for augmented and virtual reality environments.
In 2020, he became a core part of the development team of the KAYROX platform, driven by Tecnalia, for the creation, consumption, and management of XR experiences. And from late 2022, he has focused on developing shared experiences in the field of OpenXR and Meta Quest, using these technologies as collaborative tools, and expanding their application to interaction with robots using ROS.
