Expert in the area of integrated energy planning of cities/regions, energy simulation models and multi-criteria impact assessment methods. He is a senior researcher at the Energy Planning Platform of Tecnalia Research & Innovation. He also completed his international PhD at Tecnalia (UPV/EHU) in the development of methodologies with a life cycle perspective oriented to planning. He completed a master's degree in EE and Sustainability in Industry (EHU/UPV). In addition, he carried out a joint research stay between the University of Bristol (Systems Center) and the Future Cities department of Bristol City Council. He has a degree in Industrial Engineering - Specialization in Construction - double Specialization in Ecodesign (UPV/EHU). In 2010 he started working as a researcher in CIDEMCO-Tecnalia and later in Tecnalia Research & Innovation where he has participated in more than a dozen research projects (mainly European FP7, H2020) - CITyFIED, STEEP, REPLICATE, MYSMARTLIFE, MAKINGCITY, ATELIER, DRIVE2X, IDESIGNRES among others - being in charge of the development of a methodology for integrated energy planning that has been applied to more than 30 European cities. He has also participated in projects such as; ENERGIPU. Long-term energy planning of Gipuzkoa (2018-2019); MONITPLANAEE: Design of the Measurement and Verification System of the National Energy Efficiency Plan (Ecuador). Since 2021 he is project leader and principal investigator of the Elkartek BIDERATU project for the development of an integrated e3s modeling system at regional scale for the Basque Country. He also has participated in regional industrial proyects such as the Basque Net Zero Industrial Cluster (Basque Net-Zero) or a the definition of the 2030 Energy Strategy and 2050 Roadmap of the Basque Country (HdR2050 y 3EC2030). He has published articles in journals with impact index (6), books/chapters (2), participated and published regularly (20) in congresses, conferences. He participates as an expert in the sub-program "Sustainability Assessment of Energy Technologies with Life Cycle Perspective", in the framework of a new JP e3s led by TECNALIA in the EERA (European Energy Research Alliance). He is part of the MENTES Network (2020-2022) Energy Modeling for a Sustainable Energy Transition. It is part of the ESPON SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY PANEL OF EXTERNAL EXPERTS, 2021-2022 of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation ESPON EGTC. He is also part of Task 41 on Hydrogen Modelling from IEA Hydrogen, 2020-2022. He is a member of the committee AEN/CTN 178/SC 02/GT 03 "Indicators for citizen rights".
