Research interests

Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Navarra (Thesis at CEIT) in 1994, International & European Welding Engineer (CESOL, 1996), MBA from R. Kennedy College/ University of Wales in 2009, qualified as Level 2 for leak testing since 2018 (AEND) and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country in 2019. After a brief period in industry (Manipulación Ingravida S.A.), he joined Tecnalia (previously Inasmet) in 1995, and after a stage at the European Commission (Directorate General Industry) in 1997, re-joined Tecnalia, where he has held several positions as researcher and project manager in the field of Surface Engineering. He has thus more than 25 years of experience in Surface Engineering, has participated in and leaded many local, national and international research projects; is inventor of 5 patents; is reviewer of R&D project proposals (national and EU Horizon2020) and scientific articles; external expert in the monitoring and review of European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) projects; and member of the European Joint Committee on Plasma and Ion Surface Engineering EJC/PISE (www.ejc-pise.org).
