Iñigo Martínez-Criado was born in Donostia, Spain. He pursued his academic journey at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of the Basque Country (Spain), where he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science in 2009 and 2014 respectively. With extensive experience in research, he has played a pivotal role as the lead developer in numerous successful engineering and R&D projects.
In 2010, Iñigo joined TECNALIA, Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) based in Spain. Over these years, he has contributed to a diverse array of projects spanning various industries, including enhancing manufacturing processes in the machine tool industry and developing robotics and safety systems in the Oil & Gas sector. His expertise lies in utilizing descriptive, prescriptive, and predictive algorithms for data mining and optimization. Within TECNALIA, he is part of the DIGITAL area, focusing on data analytics and optimization, where he applies machine learning and big data techniques. In recent years, his focus has shifted towards Natural Language Processing.
Furthermore, Iñigo is an active advocate of Free Software. He participated in Google's Summer of Code program in 2007 on behalf of the GNOME foundation, eventually joining the foundation in 2017.
