ShortBio
Idoia Murua Belacortu, Bachelor in Computer Science from the University of Deusto in Bilbao and Master “MSc. Telecommunications and Information Systems” from the University of Essex, England. Currently, she works as a researcher in the CORES business area of the DIGITAL unit at TECNALIA R&I, a center resulting from the absorption in January 2011 of, among others, ROBOTIKER Technological Center. In 1992, she started working at ROBOTIKER, being involved in numerous R&D projects funded by both the Central and Regional Government, as well as the European Commission. Throughout her career, she has worked in various areas always related to the design and implementation of software architectures based on the most advanced technologies of each moment: Data Governance, Data Space, DevOps + Cloud, and Big Data.
She has worked on the European projects PLATOON and ACROSS in the development of data governance modules. In the Cervera project of the CDTI, DATAMETAL - Machine Learning Applied to price forecasting in the metals market, she participated in the collection, filtering, and cleaning of input data for the Machine Learning modules. In the Cervera project of the CDTI, MyDNAMap, she developed a search engine on genomic data based on the HPO phenotype ontology. In the European project SCOTT of the ECSEL program, she developed the module for collecting and parsing messages about train schedules using MQTT and Apache NiFi technologies, and generated data in GTFS format. In the European project OS4ES of the Seventh Framework Programme, she developed the applications of the Aggregator, the DSO, and the TSO to manage DER in terms of network operation and participation in electricity markets. In the European project MOVEUS of the Seventh Framework Programme, she developed the incentive management module to reduce CO2 emissions and in the integration process of the MOVEUS platform. In the ARTEMIS R3COP project, she also used the inference capabilities of semantic technologies to develop an algorithm recommender. She worked on the European project ALIADA of the Seventh Framework Programme, where she participated in the automation of the publication in the Open Linked Data Cloud, of the open data managed by library and museum management software. She worked on the mIO! and THOFU projects, belonging to the CENIT program, specifying and validating ontology networks, developing Open Linked Data mashups, and context management applications to provide personalized services, using semantic technologies. She also worked on the INNPACTO GENERATOUR project and the AVANZA REDARHI project, where she developed semantic search engines in heterogeneous data sources, including Europeana.
She has several publications in the different topics covered by her professional career, “DATAVAULTS App: Personal data platform in the Smart Cities domain and its potential integration into IDS architectures” (DYNA, February 2023), “Multi-Objective Heuristics applied to real-based Robot Task Planning for Inspection Plants” (IEEE CEC 2017, June 2017), "Data Economy in Tourism, Process for the publication of LOD in tourism" (TourGUNE, Journal of Tourism and Human Mobility, Number 0, July 2013), “Open Data in tourism” (TourGUNE, Journal of Tourism and Human Mobility, Number 1, December 2013), The Semantic Web for Improving Dynamic Tourist Packages Commercialisation (Conference on Leading the Web in Concurrent Engineering: Next Generation Concurrent Engineering, 2006). She has also taken courses related to Machine Learning, Data Analytics, and Big Data.
