ShortBio

Graduated in Physical Sciences from the University of the Basque Country in 1998 and PhD in Physics from the University of British Columbia (Canada) in 2004. Postdoctoral research at the Hearne Institute for Theoretical Physics at Louisiana State University (USA), focused on modeling complex physical systems using computational methods. Researcher at TECNALIA since 2006, currently in the DIGITAL unit. His research work focuses on the study and analysis of mobility data. Among other things, he works on pattern recognition, movement prediction based on historical data analysis, and fleet optimization using evolutionary methods. Iñaki Olabarrieta is the scientific director of the Smart Mobility Lab at TECNALIA, the research and rapid prototyping laboratory for mobility solutions at TECNALIA. This laboratory has developed algorithmic solutions in the field of descriptive analytics (dashboards, Origin/Destination matrices, points of interest, etc.), predictive analytics (models for predicting future movements), and prescriptive analytics (decision support systems) in various R&D projects both within the scope of Basque and European R&D programs, and for companies such as Telvent-Schneider, IKUSI-Velatia, ETRA, Tradia (Abertis), etc., as well as local and regional public administrations.
