Igor Gabiola completed his studies as an Engineer in Automation and Industrial Electronics at Mondragón University (Mondragón Unibertsitatea) in 1999. He later completed a Professional Master’s in Electrical Energy at Mondragón University in October 2013.
Since 1999, he has worked as a researcher at the technological center ROBOTIKER, which became part of TECNALIA in 2011. He is currently involved in several research projects in the Energy and Environment Division of TECNALIA. His main research field is power electronics and control applied to medium-sized wind turbines (10-100kW), as well as the use of Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices in new MMC (Modular Multilevel Converter) topologies for HVDC transmission. Over the years, he has co-authored several high-impact journal articles, participated in more than a dozen conferences, and is the author of two patents.
