Ingemar Svensson is a Chemical Engineer (1988) and has a PhD in Biotechnology (1994) from Lund University (Sweden), with a long and wide experience of nature product chemistry and enzyme technology for lipid modifications and synthesis of antimicrobial polyester. Since 2004 he works as researcher, first at CIDEMCO, and then 2011 at TECNALIA (Spain). During this time actively developing projects in materials protection. The actual research projects are related to wood preservation, biocide formulation, utilization of nature products such as plant extracts and revalorization of polymeric ligno-cellulosic materials. He has over 25 scientific publications and is inventor in four patents about wood treatments, polymers, lignin and cellulosic materials.
