Ivan Villaverde earned a B.S. in Computer Science (2003) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2009) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). His early research focused on computer vision and computational intelligence applied to robotic navigation. After completing his doctoral thesis, he continued as a contract researcher at UPV/EHU until joining CIDEMCO in 2010. In the following years, he worked on industrial automation and intelligent building automation projects.

In 2013, he joined the Flexible Robotics group at TECNALIA, where he currently holds the position of Senior Robotics Researcher. His work focuses on developing robotic applications for industrial environments, with particular emphasis on robot mobility, flexibility, and autonomous vehicle technologies, applying a multidisciplinary approach throughout his research.
