My academic background has been a continuous process of growth and specialization in the field of chemistry. I started my academic career at the University of the Basque Country, where I earned my Master's degree in Chemistry (1985-1990). I then continued my studies at the same university and earned my Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry (1990-1995). After completing my doctorate, I did a postdoctoral research in Solid-State Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid (1995-1997), which allowed me to deepen my knowledge and skills in this field. Years later, I decided to expand my skills in management and leadership, and I enrolled in the Expert Program in Business and Technology Management at the Deusto Business School - University of Deusto (2013-2014). This program allowed me to acquire knowledge and skills in management and leadership, which has been very useful in my professional career. In summary, my academic background has been a continuous process of growth and specialization, which has allowed me to develop skills and knowledge in chemistry, management, and leadership.
My professional experience consists of two decades of experience in management and direction in the field of research and innovation. I began my career as Technical Director of the High Pressure Laboratory in the Faculty of Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid, where I worked from 1997 to 1999. I then joined CIDEMCO/TECNALIA, where I held various management positions, including Director of the Materials Department (1999-2009), Manager of Polymeric Systems and Composites (2010-2011), and Director of Innovative and Sustainable Materials (2011-2018). In this last position, I focused on the development of materials for the construction sector and technology management. Currently, I hold the position of Project Director in the Energy, Climate & Urban Transition Unit and CTO of the Building Materials and Products Area at TECNALIA. In this position, I lead international projects and teams to drive innovation and sustainability in the wood-based construction sector.
