Personal profile

ShortBio

Industrial Engineer by the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros Industriales de San Sebastián in 1989. He joined LABEIN in 1989 in the Department of Analysis and Design and he is currently Project Manager in the Industry & Mobility Unit at TECNALIA. He has led and participated in numerous R&D projects in the area of virtual prototypes and manufacturing and his main research activities are focused on steel manufacturing and foundry processes, dealing with fluid dynamics and heat transfer modelling of steelmaking processes (EAF, secondary metallurgy, continuous casting, reheating furnace, hot rolling and heat treatments) to improve the product quality/properties and reduce costs, time and environmental impact; Development of digital twins and decision-making systems based on predictive models of the steelmaking processes, both mathematical models (solidification, thermal evolution, etc) and/or data driven models using artificial intelligence techniques (defects prediction, etc.); Embedded systems for data acquisition and signal processing; Optimisation of complex systems for improvements in design and performance; Development of Deep Learning models applied to steelmaking data.
