Juan Pérez holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros Industriales y de Telecomunicaciones de Bilbao, obtaining his degree in 1986.
He has been working at LABEIN (currently TECNALIA), a technology centre located in the Basque Country, since the beginning of his professional career. Until 2001 he was a member of the staff of the Information Technology Unit of LABEIN, where he participated in and led several projects related to the application of Information Technology to industry, both in the field of control systems for the management of electricity transport networks and eBusiness in the Graphic Arts Sector and in the Construction Sector. In early 2002 he joined the Construction and Environment Unit of LABEIN as Head of Innovation in Construction Processes, leading various projects on the use of data models (IFC, ...) for the automation of project validation, inspection tools for premises and tools for environmental management of work sites. In 2013 he became Head of R&D Programmes at TECNALIA's Building Technologies Unit, and since 2022 he has been Head of R&D Programmes at TECNALIA's Energy, Climate and Urban Transition Unit.
