Karmele Herranz Pascual, PhD in Social and Environmental Psychology and Research Specialist in Urban Comfort at TECNALIA Research and Innovation-BRTA, with 35 years of professional experience (since 1989). She currently focuses her activity on the integration of the social dimension in projects developed in the Energy, Climate and Urban Transition Unit. The topics of his activity are very varied Environmental Experience, Sustainability, Comfortable Public Spaces, Health and Well-being, Nature-based Solutions, Soundscape, Climate Change Adaptation, Vulnerability, Friendly Spaces for the Elderly, Social Innovation, Energy Efficiency, Urban Management...

Prior to his activity in TECNALIA-BRTA she has worked at the Spanish National Research Council (1989-1995) and has collaborated with the Department of Social Psychology and Methodology of Behavioral Sciences of the UPV-EHU (1995-2002) in several Research Projects. In addition, he has taught at the UPV-EHU, UNED Associated Center in Bergara, and in several doctoral, postgraduate and master courses (UPV-EHU, Osakidetza, University of Deusto, University of La Laguna, University of Barcelona, University of Lisbon, University of Zaragoza, University of Castilla La Mancha, University of Fernando Pesoa-Canarias) related to social research and / or the environment.

She has participated in more than 100 R&D projects combining quantitative and qualitative methodology. It is noteworthy the support, advice and monitoring to administrations in the development of local, regional and state plans and strategies, among which is remarkable the Urban Environment Strategy of Bilbao or the Air Quality Strategy of Vitoria-Gasteiz 2030. She has more than 100 relevant publications in journals and books in which methodological design, multivariate statistical analysis and social participation are strong pillars. She has participated in more than 115 communications to national and international congresses (40 of them by invitation), has taught in more than 40 courses and conferences, and has participated in the organization of 20 R+D+i activities. She has also been advisor to the National Agency of Evaluation and Prospective (ANEP) and reviewer of international indexed journals, such as PsyEcology, JASA (Special Issue About Soundscape), Noise Mapping, PLOS-ONE, among others. And she is a Founding Member of the (Spanish-Portuguese-American) Association of Environmental Psychology since 2009, having held positions in its Board of Directors: Treasurer (2009-2017) and Member (2017-2021).
