Luna Checa Fernández holds a PhD in Applied Engineering from the University of Navarra and is currently a researcher at Tecnalia Research & Innovation. Her work has focused on the development, characterization, and recycling of advanced magnetic materials, particularly NdFeB magnets—a line of research she continues to pursue. In parallel, she is also involved in research on ceramic composites and metal hydrides, aimed at applications in energy storage, electric mobility, and sustainable technologies. She has collaborated with international research centers such as the Université Technologique de Compiègne and the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis, and has participated in both public and private projects focused on rare earth recovery and the design of novel functional materials. She is the author of peer-reviewed scientific publications, has contributed to international conferences, and is co-inventor of a patent in this field.
