Personal profile

Research interests

She received a master’s degree in Physics from the University of Valladolid in 1997 and PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of the Basque Country in 2009, title of the thesis "Nanostructured coatings based on chromium nitrides for mechanical and tribological applications". After a brief period as a fellow in the Department of Condensed Matter Physics of the University of Valladolid (1997), she joined Tecnalia (previously Inasmet) in 1998 in the Department of Surface Engineering.

Since 2011 she is responsible for the Surface Engineering Platform within the area of Hydrogen, Materials and Processes and from 2020 responsible of the Surface Engineering KET at Tecnalia. She has more  than 15 years of experience in the management of research projects related to materials science and specifically in surface engineering, in Spanish and European projects. She has worked in more than 30 projects related to plasma assisted coating and surface treatment technologies (PVD, CVD plasma, plasma polymerization, etc.) and the characterization of the coatings (mechanical, tribological, microstructural corrosion resistance, etc.).

Marta has participated with 80 works in national and international conferences,  3 patents and 3 patent applications. She is member of the European Joint Committee on Plasma and Ion Surface Engineering EJC/PISE and a reviewer of journals such as Surfaces and Coatings Technologies and evaluates national projects for the Argentinean research agency.
