ShortBio
Dr. Michael Obach is a senior research scientist and project leader at TECNALIA Research & Innovation in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain. He earned his diploma in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Kassel, Germany. During his studies in Mathematics and Biology, he joined the Research Group Neural Networks at the University of Kassel in 1993.
In 2003, Dr. Obach completed his PhD at the University of Kassel, in collaboration with the Max-Planck Institute for Limnology in Schlitz, Germany. His doctoral research focused on applying Artificial Neural Networks and statistical methods to model ecological relationships.
From 2003 to 2004, Dr. Obach led R&D projects at the Technology Centre IDEKO in Spain, focusing on anomaly detection and optimization of machine tools. Between 2005 and 2007, he coordinated R&D projects on automatic language processing and biometrics at VICOMTech, a research and technology organization in Spain.
Since 2007, Dr. Obach has been a member of TECNALIA’s Health Division. He primarily manages EU projects related to data analytics and AI applications in neuromuscular diseases, Gerontechnology, and Health Robotics, as well as Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). Additionally, Dr. Obach contributes to business development and innovation management at TECNALIA.
