Research interests
Dr. Mikel Ortiz is a Mechanical Engineer (2009) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He joined TECNALIA's Industry and Mobility unit in October 2011 as a doctoral candidate to specialize in Incremental Sheet Forming (AISF) technology within the framework of the European R&D project INMA (ref. 266208). In July 2020, he obtained his PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Additionally, since 2015, he has specialized in Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) additive manufacturing technology, participating in several R&D projects related to this technology (projects funded by the Basque Government such as ADDISEND, LMD-TOOL, QUALYFAM, SUSIE, EDISON, MEKATOOL / national projects including ADDICLEAN, FLEX-TOOL, ECO-TOOL / European projects such as PARADDISE, TRANSFRON3D, and DEDALUS).
He has over 15 scientific publications in high-impact journals related to AISF and LMD technologies, as well as several presentations at international conferences.
