Dr Olatz Murua is Manager of Research and Development Programs at Health Unit of Tecnalia. She is Mechanical Industrial Engineer by the University of Navarra TECNUM (Spain). PhD by the Industrial Engineering University of Basque Country UPV/EHU (Spain) focus in the field of nanomaterials. She conducted part of her research at the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne (Switzerland). She worked two years in a private company before joint Tecnalia.
Since 2010 to 2020 Dr Murua was responsible for the commercial management and business development of the biomaterials area and since 2014 also for the bioprocesses area as business developer and later as head for European programs. Her activity focuses on positioning these two areas in the research opportunities that offers the EU,managing the pipeline of R+D assets of both areas.
At present she is Manager of Research and Development Programs at Health Unit. This position allow her a rol of monitoring of innovation and permanent contact with industrial companies and technological agents to know the innovation interest and opportunities in the Research market for biomedical products and to explore and propose new and emerging new scientific and technological solutions.
She has more than 20 years of experience in the MANAGEMENT OF I+D as PEER REVIEW for advisory and assessment of EU proposals In the last four years, she has coordinated 12 European proposals and has managed the participation of the group on 24 european proposals as a partner. Two times PhD BOARD MEMBER at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Invited speaker as expert for assessment of EU proposals at CDTI. Co-chairman of the II Nanociencia Meeting. Oral presentations in the EU INTERNATIONAL EVENT held at Strasbourg at 2018 and 2017. She is board member of ECHOS project and board member of the Spanish Cancer Mirror Group.
Concerning technical skill she has more than 20 publications and participations in conferences in the field of biomaterials and nanotechnology/nanomaterials focus on: tissue engineering (Technologies involving the manipulation of cells, 3D in vitro models and bioprinting technologies), neural and bone regeneration, biomaterials (medical implants and scaffolds) and biomaterials synthesis.
