Pablo Sáenz de Santa María Modroño is a doctor in physics specializing in nanoscale characterization of semiconductor materials. He holds a Double Degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Oviedo (Spain, 2021), a Master’s in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies from Université Grenoble Alpes (France, 2022), and a PhD in Material Physics at the same institution (France, 2025). His doctoral research, conducted at the Institut Néel (CNRS), focuses on imaging carrier dynamics at the nanoscale through light- and electron-matter interactions.
His work has resulted in peer-reviewed publications in journals such as ACS Photonics and physica status solidi (a), addressing topics including emission heterogeneity in InGaN/GaN micro-LEDs and cathodoluminescence-based nanothermometry in diamond. He has presented his research at international conferences, including the European Materials Research Society (EMRS), the Hasselt Diamond Workshop, and the GaN Marathon.
Dr. Sáenz de Santa María Modroño has complemented his research with experience in science outreach, having co-organized the Spanish Junior Science Olympiad and served as an administrative assistant at the University of Oviedo’s science communication unit. He speaks fluently in Spanish, English, and French.
