Personal profile
ShortBio
Master in Physics by the University of the Basque Country and Expert Degree in Technology and Business Management by Deusto Business School, more than 25 years experience in the field of materials applied to energy, particularly for solar devices. He developed his professional activity between 1994 and 2011 at the INASMET Foundation and since 2011 at the TECNALIA R&I Foundation. At the INASMET Foundation he specialized in the field of materials and their behavior, with a special focus on energy applications and, specifically, for solar energy. Between 1994 and 2001 he worked as a researcher and project manager in the department of Surface Technologies; from 2001 onwards, he leaded the Materials Behavior and Reliability department and from 2006 to 2011 the Materials for Energy department. From 2011 to 2022 he was the director of the Solar Energy Business Area at TECNALIA. Between 2023 and 2024 he focused his activity on the setting up of 2 new start-up companies for the design and manufacturing of lightweight PV modules, Izpitek Solar (for urban applications) and Solarcraft (for the aerospace and nautical sectors). He is currently member of the Board of Directors of both companies as technical advisor. He is currently head of Technology in the field of Renewables and Thermal Efficiency at TECNALIA. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and more than 10 patent applications, some of them granted. He was the Coordinator of the Spanish Photovoltaic Technology Platform (FOTOPLAT) and took part of the Executive Committee of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) specialized in Photovoltaics.
