He has over 15 years of experience at Tecnalia in the Multifunctional Materials group (now the Sustainable and Functional Polymers group). Responsible for the coordination of the R&D work packages in projects of the European FP7 and H2020 programs. Topics include applications for security (SECUREMETRO, ECOBALLIFE), aeronautics (ADVITAC, ELECTRICAL, PLATFORM, OASIS), telecommunications, electronics (AGAPAC, GREENDIAMOND) and nano security (SABYNA).

Responsible for the development and operation of a novel pilot plant for the manufacture of large-scale sheets, known as “buckypapers”, using a process based on the continuous vacuum filtration of nanomaterial-based dispersions. Recent research has investigated the multifunctionality of the nanomaterials and composites developed using this technology for use as integrated heaters, supercapacitor / battery electrodes, or sensors, for applications in the aeronautical, transport, energy, and construction sectors.

Coordinator of the testing program of the FP7 SECUREMETRO project, aimed at improving the protection of railway vehicles against explosive attacks. Work package leader and responsible for planning and coordinating the explosives testing program, including large-scale explosion testing on rail cars.

Between 2011-2016 he was a broker for ESA on the topic of space technology transfer (ESA TTN). Tecnalia was the ESA broker for Spain and the work included the development of databases of Spanish space technologies; organization and participation in promotional events (telecommunications, virtual reality, health, construction, advanced materials) to promote the TTN ESA portfolio, including ESA IP.
