Xabier Gomez-Mitxelena (1972) works in the Manufacturing Processes and Materials Area of the Industry and Mobility Unit of TECNALIA. A graduate in Industrial Engineering at the University of Navarra. He works as researcher from 1998 in Inasmet-TECNALIA. The main lines of research are related to additive manufacturing based on sintering and powder metallurgical processes, in particular the development of high-performance parts and materials by means of Binder Jetting. Study and development of materials and joining technologies for nuclear fusion reactor components in the science industry. Research in the field of processing technologies of metallic materials, particularly in the physical simulation of metal transformation processes, design & characterization of metallic alloys.

He has participated in several national and european projects publishing different scientific technical articles related to metallic alloys for applications in the steelmaking and transport sectors. He has also participated in projects based on additive manufacturing through Binder Jetting, as well as in joining technologies for the science industry.

Usual user of different facilities related to microestructural and mechanical charcterization of metallic materials and its heat treatments, he is also in charge of Gleeble 3800 System: thermo-mechanical equipment for physical simulation of transformation processes of metallic materials and its characterization.
