Description

The ISMORE asset, developed at the NeuroTechnology Technology Platform of the Health Div received the 2nd prize under the category of "Impact Expected" at the EARTO Innovation Awards, in Brussels on October 28, 2020.
We have received the second European Innovation Award granted by EARTO (European Association of Research and Technology Organisations) for the development of ISMORE, an innovative system that reconnects the brain, muscles and movements of paralyzed patients: it hacks the nervous system and decodes the movement intention to restore joint control.
The Award was collected by Ander Ramos, Principal Investigator of the Neurotechnology Area of the Health Division, at the telematic ceremony of the Innovation Awards held on October 28. It has been awarded in the category of "Impact Expected", which recognizes the relevance of innovation that is not yet on the market as a final product or service, but promises to have a great impact.
This project has been carried out in collaboration with the University of Tübingen, University of California Berkeley and supported by the Basque Country Health System, the University of the Basque Country, and the Free University of Brussels.
Our congratulations to the team that has participated in the development of this system: Nerea Irastorza, Andrea Sarasola, Ainara Garzo, Iñaki Ortego, Lara Diaz de Greñu, Hector Lozano, Je Hyung, Joe McIntyre and of course Ander Ramos.
