Mark Everingham Award 2022

Prize

Description

Our colleague Estibaliz Garrote, from Digital's Quantum Technologies group, has received the Mark Everingham 2022 award for her participation in the creation of the HMDB Dataset by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) team she was part of during her time there.

The Mark Everingham Award is given to teams that have made a significant contribution to the image processing community. In this case it has been awarded for the creation of the HMDB: A large video database for human motion recognition. This database is a reference in the evaluation of motion recognition systems, with 1514 (IEEE) and 3332 (google scholar) references so far. The award was presented at the recently held ECCV European Conference on Computer Vision, one of the top 3 conferences in Computer Vision.

This work was carried out by the MIT group led by Tomaso Poggio, one of the world's leading experts in the field of Computer Vision. Its impact was also recognized last year at the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), with the Helmholtz Prize.
