Abstract
We evaluate the home treatment with vancomycin in two patients, one suffering from plasmacoagulase negative Staphylococcus endocarditis and the other from a Corynebacterium spp. brain abscess. We adjusted the pharmacokinetic dose in order to establish a dosage that lay within the therapeutic interval and at the same time involved the smallest number of administrations. The patients attended responded to the treatment, received the dose at the scheduled times and obtained the expected result without any adverse effect appearing connected with the administration of the drug. In addition, they were pleased to be able to continue the treatment at home. The total saving estimated was 1,143,685 pesetas.
