Abstract
Among its many applications, electrotherapy is used in pain therapy, ion-therapy and for stimulating the motor system. In neuromuscular diseases it is used to build muscles and support voluntary movement through neuro-facilitation and the activation of muscle systems. This therapy also enables patients to carry out daily tasks with the aid of neuro-ortheses. In the case of peripheral lesions, it helps protect associated muscles from degeneration and keeps them in working order should reinnervation be successful.
