Abstract

This article reflects on the importance of creating the Observatory of Educational Social Responsibility in Latin America as a competent entity to analyze the practices carried out by non-university educational institutions and to offer advice to optimize them. Over the last few decades, important steps have been taken in the search for excellence in the field of education in several Latin American countries. As for university education, social responsibility is considered an indispensable starting point for improving the impact of these institutions on their community and society in general, with the ultimate aim of achieving better training for sustainable development. The Observatory promotes a ranking of educational institutions in which this type of responsibility is prioritized, based on debates, reflection and good practices oriented towards this new demand in organizations and the public good.
