Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a digital Intermediate Frequency (IF) transceiver which allows for a direct channelization of the entire UHF-TV band. Motivated by the current analog-to-digital sampling shortcomings of Software Defined Radio (SDR) schemes, our alternate modular, adaptive and ready-to-market channelizing solution is based on β interconnected modules, each capable to manage α TV channels through the concatenation of a direct IF (intermediate frequency) down-conversion, an adaptive channelizer/dechannelizer and a direct IF up-converter. A Channel Management Unit (CMU) is further added to the setup in order to receive, sense, intelligently add/delete channels and retransmit UHF-TV channels. Obtained in-lab results show a satisfactory end-to-end Modulation Error Rate (MER) behavior of our design.
