Abstract
Research on the influence of social organization over resilience to disaster has gained importance in recent years. This work examines the role of social networks as a key factor in social capital determination and their links to resilience. The proposed methodology has been applied to 18 peripheral neighbourhoods in Cusco (Peru), in such a way that for every neighbourhood indicators of inner cohesion (bondig), relationshps with other neighbourhods (bridging), and links to other organization (linking) are calculated. Results show an aggregate indicator of social capital for every neighbourhood which reflects their resilience level and could be used as an useful information for disaster risk management.
