Abstract

This chapter examines the effect of nanosilica additions on the mechanical properties and the microstructure changes of fly ash belite cements (FABC) pastes held in sulfate solutions. The use of sulfate solutions as curing media is motivated by the need to simplify this study as much as possible. The chapter discusses an experimental procedure for synthesising FABC pastes. The most probable impact of nanosilica additions on cementit-ious matrices looks for at the level of the C-S-H gel. The effect of nanosilica additions on the compressive strengths of belite pastes maintained in sulfate solutions has been assessed at 28, 90, and 180 days.
