Abstract

The SATHScale proposal was presented by Saitec to the European Commission (EC) under the call, “EMFFBEW-2019: BlueInvest Grants: Investing in blue innovation of the blue economy window call. The SATHScale Project main objectives are to address the challenge of bringing to market SATH (swinging around twin hull) technology based on scaling-up the prototype to industrial readiness and maturity for market introduction and exploiting real experiences of the ongoing open-sea 2-MW demonstrator at BiMEP (Biscay Marine Energy Platform) test center area in Bizkaia, Spain. The offshore installation and commissioning should be completed during second-quarter 2022. SATH floating platform is based on four fundamental principles, namely, the use of concrete, the geometry of the floats, the arrangement of the structure, and the mooring system. SATHScale project purposes to de-risk investment through DemoSATH 2 MW demonstrator and to accelerate the industrialization and commercialization of the +10MW floaters facilitating other financial schemes.
