Abstract

The development of SIGRU, an environmental management tool, aimed at meeting the directive requirements in the noise assessment processes was discussed. The system supported noise maps calculated by the interim calculation methods for road, railways and industrial noise. The system had been integrated in a GIS application and designed to help the communication between different administration levels and departments involved in noise management. The system also converted dB levels to population exposed to noise, and supported a psychosocial study of population response to noise.
