Abstract

This paper investigates the quality of line-to-line voltages synthesized by a cascaded H-bridge static compensator, under continuous and discontinuous modulation strategies, when the capacitor voltage ripples are significant. Specifically, the total harmonic distortion and the weighted total harmonic distortion indicators are evaluated for different modulation indices, capacitor sizes and operating modes.
