Abstract

The aggregation and mixed species formation equilibria of tri-n-dodecylammonium chloride (TLAHCl) and tri-n-dodecylammonium nitrate (TLAHNO3) dissolved in toluene have been studied by vapor pressure osmometry at 40°C. The experimental data can be best fit by the formation of the aggregates (TLAHCl)2 (log β2.0 = 1.35±0.06), (TLAHNO3)2 (log β0.2 = 1.75±0.20), (TLAHNO3)3 (log β0.3 = 3.6±0.1), and the mixed species (TLAHCl)(TLAHNO3)2 (log β1.2 = 3.3±0.2).
