Abstract

District Heating is an already established system to keep our homes and business comfortable. This section presents the overall evolution of District Heating since the initial systems more than one century ago, as well as the latest transitions and development vectors in present times. The need and potentialities to diversity and decarbonise heat sources, new technologies, long term energy planning, economics and the potentialities of digitalization are discussed.
