Abstract
The early modern Irish diaspora has been barely studied from a gender approach. This paper aims at analysing the female migration in the frame of a well-defined case study, the Irish community of Biscay during the 18th century. Four Irish women established in Biscay have been concisely portrayed, belonging to different socio-economic conditions and backgrounds —Atlantic trading companies, craft workshops, taverns and inns, and services for public institutions. Both common features and singularities for the four profiles are identified.
