Abstract

Scientific evidence suggests that climate change is increasing the severity and frequency of heat waves. In temperate climate cities, where overheating has not been a common issue, households will increasingly suffer from high indoor temperatures. In this work, the effectiveness of different adaptation strategies is measured according to the improvement of indoor thermal comfort during a heat wave. The aim is to compare the effectiveness of energy retrofitting solutions, behavioural adaptation and transformational adaptation solutions. Individual and combined adaptation solutions are evaluated using the Ladybug Tools simulation package.
