Abstract

The enhancement of transport parameters and drying rate is a way to reduce dry cycles in freeze-drying. In many situations, only an adequate heat programming throughout the operation can lead to important time reductions. The freeze-drying of two different pharmaceuticals with given transport properties has been analized. The particular dependence of conductivity with pressure and the relative values respect to diffusivity give rise to very different evolutions in the pressure control during freeze-drying.
