Abstract

The paper here presented focuses on the application of software reuse to the development of manufacturing system control. It puts forward a methodology which includes the precise tools for the development, implementation and maintenance of such a kind of software. This methodology is the result of previous experiences and it combines two complementary methodologies: Synthesis and Reboot. The former places emphasis on the domain engineering, and the latter complements it thanks to its bottom-up approach to reuse, and the metrics for the software components. A practical implementation is also described, in which other software engineering concepts have been applied.
