Abstract

A new scheme for simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has been presented. This dual sensor uses a FBG and a thermochromic material attached at the end of the same fiber pigtail; the first one to measure the strain and the second one to measure temperature and correct the information of the FBG. The system has been successfully tested in the range from 20°C to 80°C.
