Abstract
The progressive spreading of Distributed Resources in the Low Voltage section is leading to a new paradigm previously unaddressed, since it is the less controlled section of the entire electric network. The inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies is a key factor towards its proper management. In addition, studies show that the progressive development of microgrids will lead to an improvement of the electric system. In this work a novel microgrid deployment and its PLC PRIME based communication network is presented. The paper describes both the electric and communication levels of the microgrid and analyses the potential aspects that can be assessed and controlled through the communication system based on economical, energetic efficiency and renewable energy promotion criteria.
