Resumen

Deactivation by coke of a HZSM-5 zeolite and severe shape selectivity catalysts (SAPO-18 and SAPO-34) were studied in the cracking of 1-butene. The coke was characterized and the effect of shape selectivity and different acidity of the catalysts on the coke composition and structure were determined. SAPO-18 and SAPO-34 catalysts exhibited higher severity of shape selectivity than the HZSM-5 zeolite. The yields of non-aromatic C5+ and BTX lumps decreased due to steric limitations. High values of propylene yield and selectivity were observed in the case of SAPO-18 and SAPO-34 compared to those obtained with the HZSM-5 zeolite. SAPO-34 was more active and gave a higher yield of propylene than that of the SAPO-18. The deactivation of SAPO-34 is faster than that for the SAPO-18.
